Amy Gurka, Ph.D.

Waukesha Stress Management Clinic: (262) 544-6486

I have been a licensed Clinical Psychologist since 2009. I completed my graduate education at Marquette University focusing on mindfulness meditation as a way to improve emotional health. Since graduation I have worked in many capacities, including private practice outpatient therapy and psychological evaluation, public sector outpatient and inpatient treatment, and treatment in both correctional and forensic treatment facilities. I have also been an active member of the Wisconsin Psychological Association (WPA) since my graduate school days and am currently serving as the President of this Association for 2019-2020. Additionally, I am a member of the American Psychological Association (APA).

I joined the team at Stress Management in Waukesha as a full-time Psychologist in June 2019 with intent to develop a therapy practice based in the development of a strong therapeutic relationship with all of my clients and respect for the whole person. My approach to therapy is based on a person’s individual needs. My many work experiences have provided me with a variety of skills, including mindfulness, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), emotional coping and regulation skills, and behavioral interventions for a wide range and severity of concerns. Overall, I feel very honored to be part of an amazing team of mental health professionals and to be doing what I love.
