Psychiatrists & Physician Assitant
Psychiatrists have a medical degree with specialized training in evaluating and prescribing psychotropic mediation. Physician Assitants have a graduate degree and are licensed by the state to practice medicine with a supervising physician. Many mental disorders are effectively treated with medication, often in conjunction with psychotherapy interventions. Your psychiatrist or physician assistant can assist you with finding a psychotherapist who can help you.
Psychologists have a doctoral degree that specializes in human behavior. Psychologists do not prescribe medication but are trained psychotherapists. Psychologists are also experts in psychological assessments including assessments of personality, intelligence and psychopathology. Your psychologist can assist you in finding a psychiatrist if needed, who will evaluation you for medication.
Licensed Clinical Social Workers
Licensed Clinical Social Workers have a Master’s degree in Social Work. They do not prescribe medication but are trained psychotherapists. Your social worker can assist you in finding a psychiatrist if needed, who will evaluate you for medication.

Licensed Professional Counselors
Licensed Professional Counselors have a master’s degree in psychology or a closely related field. Licensed Professional Counselors do not prescribe medication but are trained psychotherapists. Your professional counselor can assist you in finding a psychiatrist if needed, who will evaluate you for medication
